Terms of Service

Last updated: 21 August 2026

These terms govern your use of LinkedOut. The short version: post what actually happened to you, do not invent things about people, and understand that what you write here is published.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using LinkedOut, you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

You must be at least 18 years old to use LinkedOut.

2. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant LinkedOut a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it for the purpose of operating the platform. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already distributed and copies retained under Section 8.

You are responsible for what you post. Specifically, you confirm that:

  • Accounts of your own experience are truthful to the best of your knowledge.
  • Statements you present as fact are things you believe to be true and can substantiate.
  • You are not disclosing information you are contractually barred from disclosing.
  • You have the right to post any media you attach.

On confidentiality agreements: LinkedOut does not and cannot advise you on whether posting something breaches an NDA or a separation agreement you signed. That is between you and the agreement, and the consequences fall on you. If in doubt, get advice before posting.

3. Anonymous posting

You may post anonymously. When you do, your generated handle is shown instead of your name and your account identity is not exposed through any public interface.

The limits of that, stated plainly:

  • Your real account is recorded against every post. Anonymity is a display decision, not an absence of data.
  • Moderators can see the real author of reported or auto-held content. Every such view is logged with the moderator’s identity and a written reason.
  • LinkedOut will disclose identity in response to a valid, binding legal order. Where we are legally permitted to notify you first, we will, and we will publish aggregate figures on how often this happens.
  • Anonymity does not change your responsibility for what you write. An anonymous defamatory statement is still a defamatory statement.

4. What you may not do

  • Publish false statements of fact about identifiable people or organisations.
  • Publish private information about anyone — home address, personal phone number, medical details, immigration status, family members.
  • Name individuals below a senior level in a way that targets them personally. Criticise decisions and roles, not junior colleagues by name.
  • Harass, threaten or incite violence against anyone.
  • Impersonate a person or organisation.
  • Post content that is unlawful in the jurisdiction where it is hosted.
  • Scrape, bulk-collect or resell platform data.
  • Attempt to deanonymise another member.
  • Circumvent rate limits, security controls or a suspension.

A negative review is not a violation. Neither is a review a company disputes. See the Community Guidelines for where the line is.

5. Moderation and enforcement

We may remove content or restrict an account when these terms or the guidelines are breached. When we remove content, we tell the author which rule was breached and how to appeal. Appeals go to a different moderator than the one who made the original decision.

Enforcement escalates: warning, then temporary suspension, then ban. We skip steps only for doxxing, threats, or coordinated inauthentic behaviour.

Company representatives may respond to reviews of their company. They cannot remove them. There is no process by which a company can have a truthful account of someone’s experience taken down because it is unflattering.

6. Disclaimers and liability

LinkedOut is a platform for content created by its members. We do not verify the accuracy of reviews and we do not endorse them. Employment decisions, hiring decisions and any other decisions you make based on content here are yours.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Linkedout Pvt Limited disclaims all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Our total liability for any claim arising from the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or ₹5,000, whichever is greater. LinkedOut is an intermediary under Section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and claims the protections available to intermediaries under Section 79 of that Act and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Data privacy. Deletion has a 30-day grace period, after which your personal data is permanently removed.

Your reviews stay published, reattributed to “Deleted member”. This is deliberate: if closing an account erased its reviews, any company able to pressure a former employee into deleting their account could clear its own review page. If you want specific posts removed, delete those posts before closing the account.

We may terminate an account for repeated or severe breaches. Where we do, the content posted under it is handled the same way.

8. Changes to these terms

We will give at least 30 days’ notice of material changes, by email and by a notice in the product. Continuing to use LinkedOut after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. Previous versions will remain available.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of LinkedOut shall first be referred to binding arbitration administered under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with a sole arbitrator seated in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The language of arbitration shall be English. If arbitration is not pursued within 60 days of a written notice of dispute, or for matters not arbitrable under Indian law, the courts at Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
